Yah I knew that post was trouble. Oliver North is first and foremost a Marine and pretty much by definition he’s going to be responsible, not give away troop positions, etc. It kinda goes without saying.
So when you point to a Marine as one of three or four people who did a good job instead of one of the dozens and dozens — hundreds? — of people who have done nothing but journalism, and then says, see, look how easy it is to get it right, that means that among those dozens and dozens of long-time, brand-name journalists, NONE of them have done a good job.

Ahhhh. I understand. You’re saying that Ollie — a professional Marine — does a good job (I agree) yet hundreds of professional journalists do not (I agree as well).
That is not to say that no professional journalists do a good job, just not very many (I agree)
I had thought you were implying that Ollie WASN’T doing a good job, in which case I was going to take isue.
I understand now (I believe I do, anyrate) and so I won’t take issue as we agree.
If a former soldier/marine is the only type of journalist which our armed forces can trust, then the rest of the so called professional journalist can stay home and cover the super-bowl game from the local tavern.
