Continuing our What-the-MSM-would-have-reported-had-the-parties-been-reversed Series: Had McCain won, and had Jefferson been a Republican, the MSM this morning would be talking about another blow to the new president, losing a Senior Congressional ally. This Jefferson loss, along with the Saxby Chambliss win, would be just another example of the presidents shrinking coattails. What does this say about the new presidents partys commitment to diversity, when the other party is the first to elect a Vietnamese-American to Congress? Does the presidents party need to be more sensitive to the issues of minorities and reach out more to the Vietnamese-American community so they can compete in future elections?

I am soooo pleased about his defeat...I really thought Jefferson would win re-election. Just like Nagin did. *barf*
*celebration* (and a renewed faith in my fellow Louisiana voters)

Republican challenger Anh Joseph Cao, an attorney and community organizer, defeated Jefferson in the 2nd Congressional district race. He will become the first Vietnamese-American elected to Congress.
Every article I find has lots of sympathetic photos of W. Jefferson and none of Cao. Further, this is the first Vietnamese-American elected to Congress.(The “Impotence” of Diversity is showcased when the person elected is a Republican.)

One interesting flashback: how many remember the Republicans under Denny Hastert being outraged that the FBI raided Jefferson's office? You realize that happened in 2006? How long does it take to get an indictment? What are the odds that the case will be dropped? Has he not "suffered enough?" Don't Democrats have "get out of jail free" cards? Isn't this a case of "the Man" getting all over a brother?

Fox News will send Shep down to Nawleens to report on this devastating loss for the Dems. The unfortunate lady they interviewed yesterday, saying she was going to vote for Jefferson because he was the only one who helped her, will be featured in her sorrow.

If Jefferson gets convicted does he loose his pension? Hope so.
