No sooner did President Bush lift the executive ban on oil exploration in the outer Continental Shelf then Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, put the kibosh to its prospects.

“The only thing standing between the American people and these vast oil resources is action from the US Congress,” said President Bush last week.

“The president of the United States, with gas at $4 a gallon because of his failed energy policies, is now trying to say that is because I couldn’t drill offshore,” quickly countered the House Speaker. “That is not the cause, and I am not going to let him get away with it.”

Today a deep-water drilling rig costs half a billion dollars a day to rent.

Although I agree with the article ... this figure is off by 3 zeros

Yeah, I screwed up my cut and paste ... and didn't check the link in the preview. This one addresses rates for deep water rigs ... up to 10,000 feet of water.

Last night my Kentucky congressman held a conference call with several thousand people from all over the state live, asking questions of him. One of the questions from a woman asked what to do about Nancy Pelosi holding up any chance on voting for oil drilling and other alternatives. He said he wanted everyone to start sending their gas receipts to him so he could collect them and deliver them to Pelosi’s office. He also told everyone to call her office and let her know of the outrage people are feeling to what she is doing. Her number is 202-225-0100 He also said to jam up the lines!

Have you considered that most of the world is jealous of the US because of high high standard of living and personal wealth. This is why most of them hate us. The Democrats intend to reduce our wealth and living standard to that equal or lower than our worldly neighbors, then they will love us again.
