The reality within the US is simple: We need a comprehensive energy policy that addresses the IMMEDIATE ENERGY CRISIS, Plus Intermediate and Long-term Energy Needs focusing on new technology and new renewable sources of energy.
We hear politicians on the campaign trail offering no real solutions, instead blaming the Bush Energy Policy for prices that have jumped administration has taken office a barrel of oil has increased from around $25/barrel to upward of $125/barrel.
The reality though is that there is plenty of blame to go around for the current energy price crisis. It is true that the average price per barrel in 2000 when Bush was elected was $27.39 per barrel, but in 2006 when Democrats regained control of Congress the average cost per barrel was $58.30. So how does a Democrat controlled congress explain how oil prices doubled, on their watch, in just 18 months?
...Oil is the 800LB Guerrilla on the back of our economy. The media focuses on gas prices because they are posted everywhere; but the real story goes beyond gasoline. Every product we buy and own is manufactured using oil, and is transported using oil and nearly every product contains petroleum bi-products. High oil prices lead to inflation and for the past year there has been mounting concern that we may be entering another period of stagflation. We need leadership that will provide immediate solutions that do not cater to any single interest group but rather to all Americans; solutions that provide immediate relief to the consumer and industry, thus strengthening our economy.
This election cycle has discussed a lot about change and naturally we think of change a progressive, new and exciting. But buyer beware, change isnt always good.
Does This Energy Policy Sound Familiar?...

When one refinery has to service 6 different States and each has its own specific environmental blends it adds to the the price and reduces supply as the cracking facilities have to switch back and forth to create them.
This will never happen though...too simple a solution.
There's a saying that no battle plan survives contact with the enemy. I doubt that any "comprehensive" plan will survive contact with reality, either.
I got an e-mail from Ed Markey last Friday. It’s not an Energy Policy, it’s a domestic Enemies List. It’s the impetus for this Friday’s column. Look up “Project 1980’s”
''Drill, nukes, coal.'' sounds like a pretty comprehensive plan to me.
Of course, we could make it **really** comprehensive and add ''Shoot all environazis. Exile all envirokooks.''
Isn’t it interesting that the very politicians offering us solutions to the problems in America are the same ones who created those problems?
Hmmmmmm . . . . term limits anyone?
