...Why is Utah Governor Huntsman in the McCain camp? Several years ago I had a lengthy conversation with the late Elder David B. Haight of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the LDS Church. He and I were driving through the streets of little Oakley, Idaho where both he and George Romney, Mitt's dad had grown up. He spoke fondly of the long, lazy summer days when he and his best boyhood pal, George, would don their worn and cutoff bib overalls and swim for hours in the irrigation canals of Oakley. He mentioned how it was that these two unknown lads had risen to positions of such prominence in the business and ecclesiastical worlds. He said it was the principles of hard work and devotion to God that had helped them both. Elder Haight and George Romney had maintained a close relationship until the Governor passed away in 1995. Elder David B. Haight is Utah Governor Jon Huntsman's grandfather. So again I ask....why is Huntsman supporting McCain?

I think the writer was asking the question outright (not rhetorically). In any case, I didn’t see him provide the answer in his article.
Anyway, I’ve seen Huntsman on TV before, and he is very pro-illegal immigration, like McCain. So that’s the divide between him and Romney, from what I can venture to guess.
Because he’s a god-damned phony liberal dressed up in a Republican suit. Any tougher questions?
The correct title is “A couple of questions”.
His first question was more interesting — why doesn’t Romney point out that his faith regards the constitution as sacred?
Good. At least I am not the only Mormon for McCain
Here's an interesting take on why Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. and Attorney General Mark Shurtleff have endorsed John McCain for the Republican presidential nomination over home-town hero Mitt Romney.
If Romney, a Mormon, is elected president, he would most surely not be able to appoint other Mormons to cabinet posts or other significant positions because of the political ramifications.
One of Romney's greatest challenges as he negotiates the Republican mine fields toward the nomination is getting through the Mormon question.
Huntsman and Shurtleff are both Mormons and, under this theory, would be out of the running for a top federal job with Romney.
Speculation is rampant that Huntsman is playing the Mike Leavitt game and angling for a cabinet post or a juicy ambassadorship in a McCain administration. Shurtleff? Perhaps he would like something in Homeland Security, or maybe a drug czar appointment.
If McCain is elected, he could appoint all the Mormons he wants, with impunity.
