It's pretty simple really. When a "yankee" comes South he automatically wants everything done his way, wants everyone to think like him and considers local customs too quaint. He says: Youse guys are way behind the times. When a Southerner goes up north say to New York City he simply says: "Can you tell me how to get to Manhattan please or should I go f*** myself?"
It's a difference of culture.
