End of the Line, Huckabee

I was willing to entertain the thought of you as a refreshing, charming, surprising second-tier candidate whose eloquence and wit would serve the party well (although trashing the Club for Growth was really pushing it).

But a national smoking ban? You're not running a health spa; it's a country, and you will never win friends in North Carolina talking like that. These big-time pound-shedders cum health nuts. You applaud them as they get healthy, but be careful putting them in power-- they'll take your food and other vices away from you quick as look at you. Because they know what's best for you now and don't care that they got to choose the time and place and manner of their own health reformation.

I'd like to have seen Gov. Huckabee's reaction had someone supported a ban on trans fats back when they were clearly his bread and butter, if you know what I mean. This is typical government overreach and liberal condescension and I don't like it one bit.

Well, that knocks Huckabee off my short list. Even though this is the law we already have in Ohio, to suggest expanding this to the federal government shows a total disregard for states' rights as well as an inability to learn from the recent past.

Go home, Mike; thanks for playing.

If you want this law, come to Ohio and try it out first. You’ll see a lot of unhappy people here, plus no-smoking signs posted at EVERY PUBLIC FACILITY with a phone number for reporting your fellow citizen to the State. It’s really a nice way of treating one another and a nice place to live. Peoples’ attitudes changed over night here. I don’t see as many happy faces as I did before, simply because people are being told what they can and cannot do. Fascism is wonderful. Come to Ohio for a trial run.

A couple of month ago I went to a neighborhood bar here in the Akron area. Because of the smoking ban, the bar had to expand their food service to make it more of a restaurant. Funny thing is, it's still a bar, with the TV's, the mirror, stools, &c. Right behind where I was sitting, was a family having dinner. They had a baby. A baby...in a BAR.

Unbelievable. Oh, and I agree--those signs really make us Ohioans look like a friendly lot, don't they.

I just came back from the heart of Public Square in Cleveland, Ohio, the Terminal Tower (walked across the street to get some lunch in there). They have small patios OUTSIDE. I was on the patio with THREE ARMY MEN men in uniform and we were having a cigarette. They sent a Cleveland Police Officer after us. AND I’M NOT LYING! Welcome to the great fascist state of Ohio.

This is just too funny (from the “Huck for Pres” website — not on there now, but it was the other day):

“Another Man From Hope — Former governor Mike Huckabee shares some of Clinton¹s talents, but is definitely his own man”

Should I laugh or cry?

Who knows? I just don’t get it. I like him better when he weighed more — that’s all I can say. I can’t wait until I go to Vegas at the end of the month where I can be with ADULTS!!!

I’m hoping it was - winning elections.
That is the only talent of Clinton’s worth admiring.
