I like George Washington's take and believe his wisdom will ultimately apply:
"No country upon earth ever had it more in its power to attain blessings. Much to be regretted indeed would it be, were we to depart from the road which Providence has pointed us to, so plainly; I cannot believe it will ever come to pass. The Great Governor of the Universe has led us too long and too far to forsake us in the midst of it. We may, now and then, get bewildered; but I hope and trust that there is good sense and virtue enough left to recover the right path. " - George Washington
We are in one of those times when we have become "bewildered". God help us, for the sake of all those who hold fast to the founding principles this nation was based upon, and upon which she rests to this day, find our path once again.
Unfortunately... our enemies aren't.
Yes, Jeff, the cost will be much higher and the nation will survive. But at some point, to paraphrase Benjamin Martin, "we fear that our errors will return to visit us and the cost will be more than we can bear." What price shall we place on the nuclear ruins of an American city? That will be the fruit of a loss in the War on Terror.
I agree; we have to have hope.
Things were grim for America after Vietnam, with Carter in office and the dems running the Government and the Soviet Union controlling half the world, but God gave us a savior in Ronald Reagan. We must have faith that He will do the same again when the time comes.
Yes, but I believe that conservatism will not survive.
We will just be like Canada, England or Europe now and that is not too bad.
There will just be an elite ruling political class where we have to pay a little more in tribute and we will have to self censor what we say and we will live ok.
There may not be enough left.
Very nice words. Inspiring.
Hey! You could be a writer. Ever think about getting published?
</sarcasm>
There has been plenty of dumbassed decisions in American history, idiot Congressmen, lame Presidents, foolish judges yet we keep rolling alone.
There is really little the RATS can do without the President's approval. Should Ginsburg and Stevens go they don't have to be replaced quickly and recess appointments are possible. There will be no precipitous retreat from Iraq.
It is a beautiful day in Chicago and likely even more beautiful in your neck of the woods. God still reigns.
