Why do so many FReepers blame the MSM, the voters etc.. The blame lies withs with the Republican leadership and they should take responsibility.....hell, I've voted straight line Repub since 1976 and I did again yesterday....but I'll tell you....I am really pissed at how they handled just about everything.....I"m still a loyal Repub and voted such, but in Bush's 2nd term, and holding all both houses and the Pres.....all they did was worry about their power and failed to do a hell of alot in the last two years.. I still support them....but THEY are not the reform party that came in in 1994 anymore....nor the Reagan party that I really miss.....We need to get back to our roots....I don't even mind compromising on some things here and there..but hell, we have to do something....and next time.....I think some of those guys should stay the hell away from the BS of an Abramhoff etc.....

Kinda like playing Prevent defense when you are only up by two points. I place much of the blame squarely on the shoulders of the Republican Congress who did not follow the President when he wanted to reform SS at the beginning of his second term. The President ran on this platform and won on this platform. Then when he tried to enact this platform, the Congress stabbed him right between the shoulderblades.

Excellent point. Reagan got more done in his first term with a hostile House led by tip O'Neil - in the pre-Rush era - than the current GOP WH plus Congress over the past 6 years.

It's a given that the Enemedia are mostly Dems' propagandists, and it will take significant extra effort to properly expose them. In Europe nearly everyone knows, for example, that the London Telegraph is a conservative paper and the Guardian is a left-wing rag. There's no reason why similar points can't be made here.

P.R. goes a long way in advancing an agenda - remember how good Ari Fleischer was with the WH Press Corps(es)? Likewise Tony Snow. The disaster was the long intervening period, with hapless deer-in-the-headlights McClellan representing the leader of the Free World.

It was irresponsible for an administration to have such pathetic media relations at a time of war. That may improve but the damage is done.

Lynne Cheney showed the way by bashing CNN. That moment stood out like gold, in the black ashes of the 2006 campaign. Now there are no excuses for sitting back and taking the media's punches.

Our future as Conservatives depends on defining what we are and hammering it home day after day, or else the Enemedia will define us and demonize us as they see fit. So it begins.

Your points are far to reasonable. We are focusing on conspiracies and/or blaming ourselves. Our exalted elected officials are all infallible and their actions could not possibily have caused the reaction in the voting populace. When we win, it is because they are brilliant. When we lose it is because there is something wrong with the voters and/or there is a conspiracy.

Didn't you get the memo?

PS Sometimes, I think the posters who actually believe some of the crap they write are those elected officials or their staff.
