Change is Coming

It is inevitable that the Democrats will secure additional congressional seats in November, if for no other reason than change, and change happens. At certain times in political history, the party in power loses, while those in the minority gain. Simple calculation. Of course, what is sometimes difficult to predict is when the change is going to happen, and by how much. Not many 'experts' predicted that in 1994 the out-of-power Republicans would take control of both houses of Congress, but the GOP did. In addition, very few would have predicted in 1998 that the Democrats - the same party as the impeached Bill Clinton - would actually gain seats in the mid-terms of that year, but again, they did.

While six months out it appears very easy to predict Republican losses in the fall, the amount of such losses remains to be seen. The only scenarios are these: the election produces a GOP congress, or a Democratic congress or something in between.

My gut tells me that the GOP will loss the House this year, but retain the Senate, but another part of my gut actually tells me that by November, President Bush's numbers will be on the upswing (how can't they be, with Bush's approval rating sitting at just 31 percent now!), and hence, the GOP losses will not mean a control switch in either house.

Still, a Democratic congress - House and Senate - isn't out of the question either. What all of this means is that no one - experts and novices a like can predict anything at this point...

But pencil me in for a Speaker Pelosi come January.

Well it's "inevitable". Time to just give it up.

We've been hearing that even the Dems can't stomach Pelosi as speaker, lol. That'll let some air out of her.

Horse manure! Change is the GOP adding seats in the Senate and House.

This is either extremely profound, extremely stupid, or something in between.

I hate to burst your bubble but all the GOP has to do is agree on a comprehensive immigration reform package like the one in the House. The Dems will then be done since the economy is good and the Conservative base would return to the GOP with such a package. There is still 180 days...so let's wait until after election day before you start counting your eggs before they are hatched.

You need a good editor ... loss=lose, one would presume. Additionally, if the Republican led House and Senate actually pass legislation by September 2006, to close the borders North and South, or even just the Southern border to start with, a Republican landslide may materialize as conservatives go to the polls to reward their representation. After all, We The People are the sovereigns of this Republic, and getting what we demand of our reps is what motivates our vote.

It IS Hillarys turn... where Hillary goes Bubba follows..
Many would vote for Hillary just to get bubba back in the White House..

A fact most often overlooked.. a sad fact.. but a fact nevertheless..

Appears we have a drive-by poster. Tying to discourage conservative voters? Bwahahahaha ... usually has the reverse at FR.

Just make a blog, post opinions on it and call it news and/or information? You could have just said all that on a dozen other threads about this subject.

One way the GOP can still be in control of Congress is if President Bush suspends federal gas taxes for the summer.
