I Love My Job (lee, 1984)

Posted on 03/03/2006 11:28:50 PM PST by Old-Retired-Trucker

I love my job,
it really makes my heart throb
when I think of all I must do
to make the American Dream come true.
So, when I die, bury me deep
with this damm truck at my feet.
Tell dispatch that I quit,
get someone else to haul this ____!

Very good. Watch out though that other guy will be along to tell us how this proves all truckers are liars, cheats, and reckless drivers.
One of my favorites is:
"If you see this truck in the right lane, call 911 cause somebody stole it." From a bumper sticker, and T-Shirt I bought at the Giant, in NM.

Been a few years for me too. Last time I was out there it ahd been bought, I think by Petro. I might be mistaken, but one of the big ones bought it and was remodeling.

Year and 1/2 ago, my son and I took off from Michigan in a 1972 Triumph Spitfire, put 9000 miles on in 6 weeks. We went all through the NW where I used to run all the time, then down to Gay Bay, and over to Reno. He got a kick outta seein the "bunny ranches" and the hills. Down to Yosemite Park, then Las Vegas. After a night there, we went to Grand Canyon, then home via NM, Texas, some more of Texas, and then some more of Texas. Finished up with no brakes, broken clutch hydraulics, broke, hungry and ran outta gas in our driveway. WONDERFUL vacation, but the Giant was closed....bummer
