Cartoonist Aaron McGruder is set to shock and offend Mainstream America once again when his "The Boondocks" cartoon premieres on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim this weekend.
The cartoon, which premieres Sunday (Nov. 6) at 11p.m., picks up where McGruder's irreverent comic strip leaves off. The 30-minute series chronicles the life and times of the Freeman brothers-10 year old revolutionary Huey and 8 year old misfit Riley (both voiced by Regina King of Boyz In The Hood and "227" fame)-and their grumpy "Grandad" (John Witherspoon of the Friday series). The show will also feature guest appearances from Xzibit, Charlie Murphy and veteran TV actor Ed Asner.

I am sure it will be entertaining. I'll tune in at least once or twice, just so I can be suitably enraged.
The racist, evil Boondocks comic strip is excruciatingly boring.
Sounds like a showbiz pitch to me.. "shock and offend" gets the attention of the much-coveted consumer demographic.
lemme guess, radical ravings of left wing wackos.
Whats new?
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Which is how shows like this stay on the air and more keep coming.
I get my shock and offense from South Park.
Why didn't CN bring back Samurai Jack?
While it is true that Boondocks is rabidly left wing,anti-Bush histrionics,Mac Gruder is relentless in satirizing many of the absurd exceses of rap culture and parodies black militants for their paradoxes just as much as he condemns white America.
I'm watching Sunday.
I suppose soon we'll be seeing a live animated version of Mallard Fillmore or Day by Day on TV. Ha ha ha!

From around 2000 and the election.
See?THAT is REAL!
FYI
Sounds silly, I know, but it seems to work out that way.
Nah. Week 1, 1.1 rating, week 2, 0.4 rating, week 3, some shyster shrieks about how racist America is that no one watches this show.
Numbers like that actually probably qualify it as a hit on Cartoon Network
That's the great thing about free speech - if gives your opponent more than enough rope. The "angry oppressed victim" meme will turn alot of people off. They're sick and tired of the whining.
I'm watching now. I figured they would tone down the rhetoric. I've never been more wrong.
First 2 minutes:
Jesus is black
Reagan was the devil
The government is lying about 9/11
And apparently the n-word is ok, provided it is used by a black character in a cartoon on a children's network.
It went very downhill from there.
McGruder's a hack. Really, his stip is painfully unoriginal and unfunny, and he can't draw worth a damn (looks like a preteens manga doodles). Tom Tommorow is funnier and far more original even though he makes McGruder look balanced. Tommorow or Kyle Baker are far more deserving of a show than McCooter. Cartoon Network has been steadily going downhill, what with the insipid Robot Chicken, numerous Aqua Teen ripoffs, now this. They need to stop giving their friends shows and actually bring in some talent.
I can not believe what I am watching on the Cartoon Network! Boondocks just showed a scene in a mall where a kid shoots up Santa Claus!!!
The music is a rip off of Charlie Brown!
This is really sick!
I've seen several episodes of "The Boondocks" on Cartoon Network. Poorly animated, humorless PC racist, white guilt driven dreck. That consitently misses the target at every turn.
Every episode has featured Black on Black Violence. From fistfights to full blow bloodless shoot-outs with everything from Gansta side aimed pistols to M-16s and SPAS-12 shotguns, though no one dies.
One episode even featured the detailing of a "N*gga Moment", with the word repeated many times.
I've a feeling that "The Boondocks" will not be given another season in 2006.
Jack.
Robert Smith 1, Streisand 0.
