Disgraced Politicians
The Political Graveyard ^

Posted on 10/29/2005 1:47:59 PM PDT by StACase

I did a web search to find a site that lists convicted politicians and came up almost empty. I'd like to find one that lists names, positions, party affiliation, crimes, dates, & comments. The best I could do was the Political Graveyard's List of Politicians Who Got Into Trouble or Disgrace.

I stuffed that text into Excel® and after some manipulation came up with the following not too surprising information:

The 380 entries date from the Revolution and 227 of those list party affiliation. The breakdown is 77 Republicans to 150 Democrats. Unfair you say since Republicans only date from the Civil War.

OK, here's a table:

Disgraced Politicians
R D Time Frame
77 150 All time
77 147 Since the Civil War
41 92 Since 1900
35 83 Since WWII
22 65 Since Watergate

TOPICS: Politics
KEYWORDS: convictions; democrats; republicans
Comment?

Anybody know of a site with more detailed information?

I don't know where you might find such a list, but when you do make sure that Ray Blanton, ex-governor of Tennessee, is on there (thinking he actually died in prison after being convicted of selling liquor licenses).

Let's keep in mind, too, that the Democrats have had a tremendous advantage since the days of FDR, because the media and intellectuals have basically sided with them. As a result their crimes generally have to be more flagrant before they are punished.

When you think of the various political machines in the U.S., in which unpunished corruption has run rampant, there are a few famous Republican machines, but I'd venture to guess that 90% of them are Democrat or populist. The Nassau County Republicans were one of the most famous exceptions, and they finally imploded.

Some scholar needs to put a website together much like Rummel is doing with government sanctioned murder.

Thanks to Merritt for sending me this....yikes...

This list isn't speculation or conspiracy...sadly its a matter of public record.

Please send this out to whomever you deem necessary. (Melton and Harry) --
