It's more fun just reading the thread. That is, until the evil moderator put satire on it.

I like your tag line. I have used one before that has similar sentiments, but not nearly as powerful or to the point as yours, "America will never be safe as long as a single Democrat holds elected public office."

Thanks for the kind comment. There are any number of things that the Democrats have said that simply make me wonder if they are either mentally ill or are part of some cult. And during the last few years, some of their actions remind me of organized crime activities. I have also said of the Clinton Administration: "The Clintons made organized crime bosses weep with envy."

The issues of the Meirs appointment are to be found in the contrasts between the satire in the article and this reply. Nobody ever had reason to challenge Ronald Reagan's conservative credentials. The first President Bush reneged on his infamous "Read my lips" pledge and completely caved on the 1990 budget deal. The current President Bush caved on Campaign Finance Reform and single handedly pushed through the largest expansion of socialism since LBJ. Conservative have not only the right, but also the obligation to challenge this President's conservative credentials. And when he asks us to trust him on this, we trusted his father and we trusted him on CFR and that trust has already been betrayed. Fool me once, shame on me.
Mr. President, you have betrayed our trust, not just once, but several times. Now we are in the era of "Trust and Verify." And I would suggest that on matters of grave importance, what cannot be verified, should not be condoned.
We all know that if we do not learn from the mistakes of the past, we are destined to repeat them. The doctrine of legal precedence as it is sometimes followed is a particularly egregious error. Aphorisms and adages are repeated down through time because they are true and and absent the adage, we might forget the lessons of history. Myths are the other side of the coin. Honoring bad precedents is repeating the same mistake and the equivalent of codifying a myth. Mistakes should be corrected as soon as the the truth is discovered. This is particularly true when the mistake is bad law. Honoring a mistaken precedent, because of its "precedence" should be the most egregious of human errors. Machiavelli himself could not have designed a more evil concept. Conservatives need to learn that we must stand up and fight for the truth and stand up for what we know to be right at all costs. Compromise for the sake of compromise has brought the United States to the thresh-hold of the very Gates of Hell. Now is the time to remember the words of Ronald Reagan, "..and on these principles, there will be no compromise."
