Katrina was blamed on Bush without any intelligent proof of his wrong doing. So what are we waiting for, let’s go ahead and beat the greats such as Geraldo, Shepard and Wolf and start blaming him now! Yeah, and since I live in Memphis and live on the big potential earthquake line, I am announcing blame for Bush today for this one. Oh, I am going to also encourage white sox fans to blame Bush for the collapse of your team in the second half. Anymore? Rock Hudson coming down with AIDS? Come on, this is serious so quit being unrealistic. One more. Bush is to be blamed for my irregularity today!

Just felt a strong earthquake tremor out here in LA. Also Bush's fault, no question.

Of course, natural phenomena are no fault of any human, or group of humans. But considering the way that the President has injected himself into the tragedy, in publicity seeking ways, to propose outlandish expenditures, designed to increase the dependence of the people involved on the Federal Bureaucracy, I would not extend him much sympathy.

Sure, he is being advised by Karl Rove, and many of you know what I think of Karl Rove. But he (the President) doesn't have to go along with an agenda, which gives the lie to the protestations of a Compassionate Conservatism. Applied disproven Socialist theory is neither compassionate nor Conservative.

Then tell us all what you would have done instead and how it would have been so much better than his response?

I believe it was Bush's fault that Bucky Dent hit that homer in Fenway park.

I would have limited the initial response to providing military assistance to the State, after it was requested. I would have maintained a very low profile, and not let myself be baited into photo ops, and endless public addresses, etc..

While, I have serious doubts as to how much of the relief being promised, is even Constitutional, I will answer you further from the President's perspective, not mine. Thus I will assume--only for the sake of argument--that it would be permissible for Congress to appropriate some money for civilian relief efforts. So assuming, however, I would certainly not have offered to use the disaster as an excuse of a new Welfare program--i.e. upgrading neighborhoods, job training programs, and other devices to make large segments of the public still more dependent upon a distant bureaucracy.

And the proposal to give the Armed Forces a greater role in maintaining civilian order, shows a complete lack of understanding of some very basic American concepts, as to the role of the Militia, etc., which we need to begin discussing again.

Every crisis, is a cross-road of sorts. We can seek to deal with the crisis in ways that reinforce traditional values, or we can seek to deal in ways that undermine traditional values. Sometimes, you can only hold your own, if the crisis calls for immediate response. But the President has not merely held his own. He has adopted an extreme move to the Left--to take us further down the disasterous road that JFK and LBJ promoted in the 1960s.

Well stated and I agree with your dislike for socialism. However, Bush has now positioned himself to strategically place the african american conservative judge for appointment to the supreme court and the media and the democommunist will then not be able to attack her without looking like total fools as they have self-promoted themselves as the saviors to blacks and Bush anti-black.

2nd point: Louisianna will now become a republican stronghold. The state, similar to Tennessee, has one city that votes dem: New Orleans and Memphis. Well, now with 250,000 democrats never to return, Louisianna will be a sure red state.

You make good points as a California resident, I wonder, where exactly is Bush's fault and when will it shake up the state?
