Some would rather fight the terrorists over here

As I was flipping channels last night, I came across CNBC's "The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch." I might have been the only American watching the show but during my brief visit with Donny I was fortunate enough to hear a bit of wisdom (cough, cough) from Arianna Huffington. Ms. Huffington has concluded that Bush's idea of fighting the terrorists in Iraq so we don't have to fight them here in the U.S. had been totally destroyed by the London attacks. Huffington expands her idea in an article today called "London: Bush’s “Flypaper Theory” is Blown to Pieces"

Not only is the title of the article in poor taste, but Ms. Huffington seems to argue that we should want to fight terrorists on the streets of New York rather than Iraq. Of course I'm sure Arianna thinks, like Michael Moore, that Iraq was run by noble and gentle people who allowed the children to fly kites. Consider this comment in the article:

Not only was this “flypaper theory" empirically disproved by the London carnage, it directly contradicts the president’s other most often used justification for the war -- that we invaded to liberate the Iraqi people. So let me get this straight: we invaded them to liberate them... and to use them as bait to attract terrorists who we could fight on the streets of Baghdad rather than the streets of London and New York?

No Arianna, we did not invade Iraq to use the people as "bait." Iraq has been liberated, they have an interim government - which they choose - and they are working on a Constitution. The terrorists have joined with those loyal to Saddam to make Iraq the front lines of the war on terror. We did not make it so, but the jihadists who have come to Iraq have made it so. If they want to fight our Soldiers there, then so be it.

President Bush never said terrorist attacks outside of Iraq would cease, in fact, the Administration has warned of the possibility of attacks since 9/11. Why do you think they created the color coded terror alert system (an idea which Huffington mocks) if not to illustrate that we are still at risk?

No, people like Arianna Huffington simply can't resist the London attacks to launch another attack of their own against President Bush. If Bush had not gone into Iraq and had spent the money instead solely on pursuing bin Laden, as Huffington suggests, she would be first in line to attack Bush for that.

It wasn't Bush's handling of the war on terror that was disproved, but it was the leftist idea that the war no longer needs to be fought that has been shattered.

"The "terrorists" are being created by the policy, not destroyed by it. "

Your thining is flawed.
9/11 happened BEFORE The Presidents policy was in place.
Please adjust accordingly.
