They come to America with no money and take advantage of all the programs we offer ... often their family has money and sometimes lots of money. When they are in their own country they live well and can afford things like trips with friends. And like the article said ... when he returned he brought her lots of gold jewelry.
To take leave of common sense and operate out of one's feeling is usually a disaster. However, it is rarely possible to tell that to young, in love, smitten lovers; they let it fall on deaf ears. And "yes" ... they do not believe it will happen to them. Sad.
