I'm no fan of Lincoln Chafee, but he's 1000% better than Charles Schumer, Ted Kennedy or Robert Byrd, which is exactly the kind of politician that will likely replace him.

That's the problem. He's not. If the best we can do from Rhode Island is Chafee, it's better to just cede the seat, and go harder after a Red State Democrat Senator.

Actually there are lots of RINO's and half-assed Rep's that we should go after. Arlen Spector and Orrin Hatch are two good examples. It would be a gamble trying to replace Spector but at least a conservative stands a chance of winning in Pennsylvania.

I just don't support going after Chafee because RI is a bit of a lost cause. As far as party registration is concerned, Democrats there outnumber Republicans by nearly four to one.
