Let's see, she carefully planned this when she bought a bus ticket last week. She then cut her hair. Why would she do that? So people would think she had been abducted. So she planned the story too. She then placed the hair where only the cops prob would find it. Sounds to me like she set it up and she should have to pay. What was she thinking? Was she never planning on returning? Obviously she thought they would suspect her as being dead.

There is a huge, interesting thread on this story, posted early today. It has some interesting hypotheses about what the real story is, including a few of my own.

It's all about her and probably always has been. The fiance should run for his life. But he's probably addicted to being a caretaker. So they will be symbiotic.

The other problem is that there is a double standard based on race. This seems pretty similar to the Tawana Brawley case from the 90s. It became national news when a young black woman faked her own kidnapping then was found to have made the whole thing up. When that was realized, people were ready to lynch her! However, now you have this white woman who at 32 should CERTAINLY have known better, and the media paints the story as if she were a victim! (Of whom, I'm not clear) Either way, the fact is that she planned this for a while, had her whole story concocted, then carried her scheme out. She should definitely be held accountable in some way. The best idea I heard so far is to have her family give the $100,000 they put up as a reward to the city of Duluth to pay them back for the search.
