This Is Just Awful

Some people call this “free speech.” (Hat tip: William.)

UPDATE at 4/12/05 9:14:01 pm:

And then, there is this: Secret Service visits art show at Columbia. (Hat tip: NC.)

Organizers of a politically charged art exhibit at Columbia College’s Glass Curtain Gallery thought their show might draw controversy.

But they didn’t expect two U.S. Secret Service agents would be among the show’s first visitors.

The agents turned up Thursday evening, just before the public opening of “Axis of Evil, the Secret History of Sin,” and took pictures of some of the art pieces — including “Patriot Act,” showing President Bush on a mock 37-cent stamp with a revolver pointed at his head.

The agents asked what the artists meant by their work and wanted museum director CarolAnn Brown to turn over the names and phone numbers of all the artists. They wanted to hear from the exhibit’s curator, Michael Hernandez deLuna, within 24 hours, she said.

The craziness is getting worse. When did this kind of insane hatred masquerading as “political discourse” become a mainstream, respectable—even marketable—way to express an opinion?

Cafe Press should be ashamed for showing something like that.

Not to nitpick, but that's not a revolver. That said though, this is disgusting and shows the unveiled hatred of the left. Funny how they're willing to forego gun control when it comes to threatening the President. I believe in free speech, but free speech has always had its limits. This should be construed as a threat, and the creators of the stamps and t-shirt, as well as Cafe Press should be charged with threats against the President.

So I guess this means I'm okay expressing sympathy for folks who want to go after judges, yes?

Well, at least the button has an actual revolver....

Seriously, these %@#%@%holes are showing themselves to be just that.

And you know these !%#!% will be crying "free speech", too, don't you? More epithets and threats at Bush.will come out cuz of this as their pathetic excuse.

They cross the line and have gone into the threat world. But they'll complain they have every right to so express themselves. They don't have any common sense, tho (see my tagline), of what is just opinion and what is threatening.

I guess so, if you have no problem with being just like them.

Violence is never a joke, and it is never funny.

As poor in taste as this tee shirt is, it is obviously just a play on the "Kill Bill" movie.

I didn't say that I would do it or participate in any way, just that I can sympathize.
