Important tips:
Calling: Sometimes getting past a busy signal is hard. Be persistent. Use your redial. Once you're in and on hold waiting to go on the air it may take a while to get on the air. Just be prepared for it. Use the time to listen to the show over the phone (always turn down your radio) and make notes.
The Producer/Screener: The friendly man or woman who answers the phone first will want your name and the area or city where you're from. They will ask you what your topic is. Sometimes they will ask which "side" you're on. Just tell them. Be friendly, open and lively. If you're asked a question about your topic, just answer it.
The Call: Prepare yourself. Know what you're going to say. Make some notes on paper (facts, figures, related issues, key words). Know the subject well. Stick with what you know. Prepare to be questioned. Always be nice, respectful and cordial. Gracious gets gracious in return. An angry caller is out of control and can't deliver a great message. Bring something new to the show - facts, opinion, and viewpoint. Be lively and passionate but never go over that l and start arguing. Connect with the host in a friendly way. Listen to the host before you ever call. Get a feel for his style and demeanor.

Problem for the Liberals is, if their agents ever actually do assemble all the facts, they become conservative.
