PHILADELPHIA, December 17, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A group of eleven Christians were arrested on October 10 for praying, singing, and reading scripture during an annual "gay pride" event known as "Outfest" in Philadelphia. The members of the group were charged with three felony (criminal conspiracy, ethnic intimidation, and riot) and five misdemeanor charges.
An appeal to a federal appeals court to stop the prosecution was denied Tuesday. Further, charges were dropped against seven of the men and women. However, Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge William Austin Meehan ordered four of the group members to stand trial on the charges. If convicted, they could face up to 47 years in prison.
Since the federal courts did not intervene to halt the state prosecution, the last route for the four in question would be an appeal to the Supreme Court according to their attorney Brian Fahling, senior trial attorney for the...

Welcome to a new day in America.
Since when is sexual orientation an ethnicity?
Gee, and the DU-ers say that since Bush won we're all being forced to march into churches at gunpoint.
Maybe the ACLU will come to their rescue.
I don't know the circumstances of this event .. but when going on the front lines of the enemy (the devil) .. you better be absolutely, positively sure that GOD has told you to do that .. and preferably it's with your Pastor's consent and participation.
People mean well .. and I know people believe this gay event was the perfect opportunity to minister .. but spending 47 years in jail is not a solution GOD would plan. Instead of GOD being lifted up .. Christianity is being pushed down. Not a GOD-plan.
I attended a Missionary church in OK. They basically trained people to go out to the mission field. GOD will keep you safe as long as you do things GOD's way. My Pastor said they would warn people .. and then end up finding out the missionarys were killed - because they wouldn't listen to the training.
I'm shocked that the city's Pastors and church leaders are not raising hell over the charges against these people.
And we continue to see the fruit of the labor of the progressive secular left.
This will continue and continue until America wakes up - more specifically, the church wakes up - and takes a stand against these evil machinations of the secularists.
I'm working a story about Christmas lights, nativity scenes, and the ACLU at

What the heck?
Prison terms for reading the Bible outloud in public?
I don't know what they did to merit those charges - I just saw this article about the possible 47 years in jail.
Couldn't have said it better and won't try!
They've been charged with special "hate crimes" You can read about it on these threads
I agree that God should most definitely be consulted and obeyed in all things, but He has planned for people to be in jail before. Peter and Paul come to mind, as well as believers all over the world who are persecuted via prison terms for trumped-up charges. Unless these people were disobeying God, their present difficulties may very well be for some purpose that will ultimately glorify God. We don't know the pattern for their part of His tapestry. Prayers are definitely in order.
PING Christians
Philadelphia will no doubt pack a jury with queens and illiterate welfare queens who will give these protesters longer sentences than murderers get. No one in the "intolerant" Red states proposes carting off the gays to prison, but in the bluest of "tolerant" Blue areas people are charged with imaginary "crimes" while the ACLU is probably contemlating favorably instating the death penalty for "thought crimes."
Sometimes God's way is to have people go to prison or die for their faith. Remember Paul and the Christian martyrs of the early church.
This certainly has nothing to do with GOD. It has to do with the Constitution. Let's see how many Dumocrat, anti-God protesters are arrested at the Bush Inaguration. Any guesses? I'll start with 0 (zero)
