Yep, but do you believe anything Kerry puts up on his site. Like I said, he could be just as phoney as the Dan Rather memos.

On January 21, 1977, the day after his inauguration, President Jimmy Carter signed an executive order granting amnesty to all Vietnam draft evaders.......

Whatever the reason, the issue is legally dead.

What does this Kerry debate have to do with draft evaders? Jag may have closed the case on Vets involved in antiwar activities as a knee jerk reaction but I don't think the issue is dead based on this because it is obviously two different issues unless there was more to the order than just this. What legal reason did they give for closing the case or didn't they have to give one?

RE Kerry discharge:
I served in U S Air Force as a pilot in 1954 to 1957 on a total of 8 yearws commitment bud did not get my discharge until 1970. They chose not to discharge my 8 year commitment until 1970 for a total of about 16+ years.

I got an honorable discharge in 1970.
Why did Kerry get an early discharge from reserve unless he received a less than Honorable discharg.

Why did they wait until Clinton got all the FBI files to give Kerry an honorable discharge.

Why did they give him a less than honaorable discharge while he was meeting with Viet Cong representative in Paris as well as falsely alleging that all of our GIs were commiting atrocites in Viet Nam??

You have to connect the dots on this posting!!

RE post 256

You are correct about the F102. Credit for Lt Bush flying this beast has not been rendered. I an very sure Bush spent perhaps 3 times as much time in Flying School as Kerry spent in Viet Nam.
The positive credit for President W Bush Doing his active duty has not been published.

"It does sound a lot like the timeline, when a former service member has their discharge classification upgraded. That means the discharge was upgraded from bad conduct to general discharge (at the convenience of the service) or honorable. It could also mean upgrading a general discharge to honorable."

Could he have had his discharge upgraded TWICE? Supposing he had a DD to being with. That could have been upgraded to BCD by Carter, for Carter granted upgrades to Vietnam Vets when he was in office. Or if he had a BCD it could have been upgraded to General Discharge.

Years later Clinton could have upgraded the General Discharge to Honorable Discharge.

That's the only thing that makes sense to account for the late Honorable Discharge, if in fact he does have one. Either way, how did he ever qualify for Congress if he didn't have an Honorable Discharge back then? Does one have to necessarily be convicted of a felony or high crime or misdemeanor to be disqualified to run for Congress?

Every single time a camera and/or microphone is in a Republican's face, they should be demanding Kerry unseal his military records and divorce records. Even if he isn't hiding anything, ostensibly it appears he is hiding something and that scores points.

If Dubya falls, this will be one of the biggest gafs by the Republicans.

"I think there was already a post on this and someone explained the 2001 discharge. There is nothing there. If he had been court martialed you would know about it. You can't get a less the Honorable Discharge without due process and there is no evidence of a court martial."

You can get a less then honorable without court martial. If your eval marks are below a 2.0 is one way for this to happen. Captains Mast can also be used. That is non-judicial punishment, so the record would only be in his navy record.
