I've heard (and seen) George Clinton (P-Funk All-Stars/Parliment/Funkadelic).
Possibly his most widely heard song had the line "We got the funk...". Maybe you've also heard "Free your mind, and your ass will follow."
His band(s) are known for 3 hours plus shows using up to a couple dozen musicians (who take turns on stage to keep the show non-stop).
