I saw this on another message board and couldn't believe they're trying to blame this on the Free Republic.
To: Tarantulas
It's Free Republic's fault; I guess that lets George Bush off the hook. </sarcasm off>

No kidding! That is the most twisted 'logic' (and I use the word loosely).

That's some pretty good intel on the part of The Sand People, that they knew to come to FR to find a list of ANSWER donors, and matched up ONE name out of a list of people, and make the connection.
Why not just go to Who's Who In America, instead?
You got this off DU, didn't you?

If you're going to lay blame in this manner then start with the father. He's the one that signed his name.

Quite a stretch-but some people will resort to anything. There is no way the Iraqi police read FR. Nor do I think they would be able to make the connection (Berg is not an uncommon name). Further-why would the barbarians kill some one who they thought was on their side? This is just a load of crap for the lefty useful idiots. Lots of fodder for their tin foil theories and rantings. Sheesh.

Of course it's Free Republics fault! Don't you know how seditious those war mongers are! They'll do anything to further their cause of bringing down the true peace lovers of America and the world! <*sarcasm on*>

If only our security apparatus was so efficient as to be able to pull info and make something happen that fast.
Also, I think the author needs a refresher. Nick Berg was not killed by U.S. or Iraqi police.

HEY FINTAN DUNNE since when did Nick Berg become Michael Berg? If you have a claim to make take it up with Michael Berg.
We know your lurking and salivating over this thread with your stupid conspiracy theory.

I am always amused by the implication that we FReepers always agree with everything that is posted, and are in lockstep on every issue.
Only someone who has never actually visited FreeRepublic.com and has no clue about its format would ever make such a an incredibly stupid suggestion.
Once I see that, I know the rest of what an author has to say is basically worthless.
The idea that Iraqi security forces use the Free Republic for background checks is flattering, however, if somewhat fanciful.

Hmm. That's interesting. Everything I had heard locally was that Nick Berg was an independent contractor. This ANSWER list has his father as a teacher for the company that the son supposedly owned. And it wasn't an education company--it serviced communications towers.

Fintan Dunne is the same crackpot Irishman who brought the world
PsyOpNews, currently devoting its time to the proposition that we faked our capture of Saddam. And he's the same crackpot Irishman who brought you
AIDSMyth, dedicated to "debunking" the notion that HIV causes AIDS, that HIV is sexually transmitted, that HIV is infectious at all, and so forth. And he's the same crackpot Irishman who brought the world (along with his "researcher", Kathy McMahon),
TreeIncarnation - and if you can tell me what the hell that one's all about, I'd appreciate it.
In a sane world, Fintan Dunne would be soaking in gin and bending the ear of some hapless bartender down at the local pub. Instead, the world is completely bonkers, and anyone who takes much of anything Dunne says seriously is pretty well bonkers too.
