Seattle Community Center Calls for Victory to Iraqi Insurgents

The New Freeway Hall Community Center in Seattle, WA has long been a haven and meeting place for those on the leftist fringe. After all this is the meeting place for the “Seattle Radical Women” and the Freedom Socialist Party. Provocative and sometimes silly posters and banners are the norm in the large show window in front of the Hall. Prior to the recent Abortion March on Washington a sign graced their window informing passers by that this is the home of “Radical Feminists for Reproductive Freedom”

But in the past week the window dressing has taken on a more incendiary tone. Currently posted on the window facing bustling Rainier Avenue is a sign calling for “Victory to the Iraqi Resistance!” When asked about the sign, one local explained “this part of Seattle is very liberal and very easygoing; it would take a lot more than a sign like that to get this neighborhood’s attention.” But one neighbor disagreed telling us “I have to drive by that place every day, and to be honest I find it disgusting. For the Iraqi Resistance to win means that America would have to lose, it’s like calling for the death of Americans. But they have the right to their opinion, that’s what our soldiers are fighting for.”

The 5000 block of Rainier South is predominately black with a good sprinkling of Arabs, Somalians and Ethiopians. Some whites and Asians remain. I wouldn't characterize it so much as liberal, but rather as a little piece of the Middle East plunked down in what was once an Italian neighborhood.

Knowing Seattle, the freeway would probably end right in the center of of the hall, halted due to poor planning and lack of funds, but traffic would be heavy until enough cars pilled up to stop the flow and create a jam. Might work after all.

These folks at Nw Freeway Hall would just love it if some conservative typle vandalized their place. They would make sure it was the headline on every news outlet TV station and newspaper from coast to coast, they are experts at media manipultion. They wouldwould hold protests about the dangers of patriotism and conservatives and the Patriot Act. This is what they want - don't give it to them. Let them wallow in their own putrid filth.

Yes, but not as most might envision. Travis McGee gets it right in his great novel Enemies Foreign and Domestic when he describes such a conflict here as a 'dirty war,' with elements of the worst things that we have seen in South America and the Balkans.

There will be no quarter asked or given, and the 'front lines', such as they may be, will be everywhere. It's a constant source of amusement to see the Left's hysteria over firearms. They have more to fear from an icepick or a razor blade taped between two fingers.
