PLEASE Don't Sit out 2004, EVEN IF Bush signs the AW ban extention
4-12-03 | Dan

Posted on 04/12/2003 8:34:45 PM PDT by Dan from Michigan

First, I'm as mad as anyone else about the AW ban. However, STAYING HOME is the WORST DECISION possible.

Whatever happens, PLEASE go to the polls and vote. If you must, leave the president spot blank or vote for someone besides W, but please do not punish the rest of the candidates there who ARE pro-2a, and had nothing to do with this.

The Congress, Senate, State Rep, State Senate, and County and local seats are just as important as the other seats and is the basis of the farm club. If we do not have a solid farm club, we will NOT have a pool of talent to choose from.

Forget it, Dan. I have read the posts. Some people are just intent on making Hillary the next president, and they think this will be a good thing. With a thought process that comes to that kind of conclusion, there's no pleading with them.

As for myself, I see no one from the RATs party or anyone else who seems interested from the PUBs party that I would vote for over GWB. Same goes for my wife, who just shook her head when I told her of the recent posts on FR.

I understand the line in the sand for gunowners.

That said, I DON'T want to lose a solid congressman like Mike Rogers because pro-gunners stay home because W does an insanely dumb thing.

I'm worried about down the ticket. W is NOT the party. He's one person.

I won't sit it out Dan. I'll vote for the Democrap. Sitting it out costs Bush one vote. Voting Democrap costs him two.

If Alan Keyes runs in the primary again, I'll vote for him just like I did the last time.

I don't agree with Bush on everything--just most things.

Even if he actually signed an AW ban renewal, I would still vote for him. Ashcroft (remember him?) is the AG who changed the government's position on the 2A to being an individual right. He was appointed by W.

Do you honestly think Hillary, OwlGore, or any RAT would stand up for the 2A? Unless the economy rebounds in the next few months, 2004 will be a tough campaign.

A vote against W is a vote for the forces of evil.

"I won't sit it out Dan. I'll vote for the Democrap. Sitting it out costs Bush one vote. Voting Democrap costs him two."

Sad, just sad. This has got to be the most nonsensical thought process I have ever witnessed in 2+ years on this forum. Anything more I might say would probably get be suspended from FR.

With a thought process that condones giving up your principles and slapping your firends just to win an election, why do you even vote? Why don't you just hang a sign on your back, "Kick me. I'll vote for you whores no matter what?" Nope. Votes mean something. They sometimes--although rarely--mean one is for someone or something. In most cases, particularly this one, we vote against something (your scare mongering about Hillary proves the point). My vote will be against Bush if he does this.

Save your breath. They're not going to sit out. All talk. Those who are threatening to abandon the GOP probably never voted or voted Libertarian anyway. It's like a child stamping his feet.

Yes, it is sad. You are sad. You will do anything and put up with anything. No wonder we're in the shape we're in.

I'm with you, Dan. I'll vote pro-2A, as always. If GWB pulls his weight, he'll get the vote. If not, I'll find someone who does.

The RAT will be in favor of banning all semi-auto anythings: rifles, pistols, shotguns, even BB guns.

We can't stop you from voting for the RAT, but you really ought to think it through all the way.

Not true, Timmy. I've voted for the Republican Presidential candidate in every election since 1968, except the Bob Dole election. I DID sit that one out.

So, I surmise that you voted for Clinton twice? If so, thanks for 9/11! And yes, I will always take the lesser of two evils. With the RATs, the evil is inbred and impossible to remove. With a PUB, there's a chance.

CurlyDave--I HAVE thought it out for 35 years. I have concluded that one party just does it slower than the other. Better to get the entire mess up front to begin with and see what happens.

In order for GWB to sign an assault weapons ban one must pass both houses of Congress such a ban could well be "bottled up in comittee" and never even make it to the floor of the House. Lets wait and see what happens.
