As much as I think long hair on a man looks ridiculous, that kid’s hair aint going nowhere!

Well, the kid’s hair looks like some horrible disease of the scalp, but I can’t see how it violates the school’s policy as long as he keeps it done up while he’s at school.

‘being an American requires conformity.’

All in all, you’re just another brick in the wall

Fine, it’s off his collar but he and his mama signed the dress code and now they don’t want to abide by it. No, I doubt the male members of his ancestors wore their hair like that. Can it be washed twice a week or does it stay like that and become buggy as it seems the school is worried about.

I’d be more concerned with the girly hairstyle and earrings.

I have seen far worse.

back a long time ago when I was in school they had a pretty strict dress code, but I don’t think they would have said anything about this guys hair.

(yeah I think it looks stupid, but I also know I have no fashion sense)

If he wears it up, he's not in violation of the school rule, especially since police officers are normally required to keep their hair off the back of the neck. That means that they can have long hair, as long as it's worn up, off the neck. If cops are in compliance with the uniform rule by wearing their hair up, then so is this kid in compliance with the school rule.

If he wants to wear his dreadlocks down, he'll have get himself sent to prison. Dreadlocks are allowed in most prisons because it's recognized as part of the Rastafarian culture associated with a religious group.

'The school district says its dress code is meant to 'teach grooming and hygiene, instill discipline, prevent disruption, avoid safety hazards and teach respect for authority'. '

The problem with government, is they don't live by those words. Very few gov employees are examples of such a code. Respect for authority is earned, nor should it be a given toward government.

This is probably being pushed mainly by his mother.
That “style” looks like something an old woman may use for her hair, so she can set it and forget it for a long time.
He’s wasting all this energy over piddly details like this, instead of looking for a job when he finally graduates.

The entire statement by the school district reads like a commie manuscript that frowns upon individualism.

The respect for authority aspect is the most laughable part of this statement. Sure, especially with all of those female teachers sleeping with their students these days.

Our society needs to return to standards like teachers and students dressing appropriately.

I’m sure the kid, mother, and media sycophants are leaving out a detail or five. Sure, we get to see a picture of a well groomed boy with his hair neatly and tightly fixed atop his head.

So then you have to ask how the school knew the hair was shoulder length. Is it possible that his hair was not always as we have seen in this picture? Is it possible that this updo was crafted after the fact to play the victim and race cards?

I suspect baby-mamma is trolling for settlement cash. Or maybe my thoughts are so jaded because that’s the way it usually happens with media hyped stories.

The quote is ““When you are asked to conform ... and give up something for the betterment of the whole, there is a psychological benefit,” Poole said. “We need more teaching (of) sacrifice”.

Kind of reminds me of a failed political candidate who said “we’re going to take some things away from you for your own good”.

There’s nothing wrong with people *choosing* to sacrifice for country or God; anyone telling people they should be *REQUIRED* to sacrifice merely to appease some tin-pot school bureaucrat administrator needs to be the one sacrificed.

It’s a stupid looking hairstyle, but it isn’t long or unkempt.
