I have no issue with anyone punching someone who spits at or on them.
I can understand the reaction but the woman was in handcuffs. That’s crossing a line.
At least he can brag about his ability to knock out a handcuffed 59 year old woman with one punch.

During coronavirus lock-downs, the Dept of Justice charged several people with assault on a federal employee, when postal workers were spit at.
So many cities are extremely short on trained cops, who knows, after a few months, this former officer may start getting offers to return to the force, but in a different precinct, of course.

You cannot physically attack a restrained person under your care/detention. It is abuse beyond any reason. I am truly saddened by the number here that think it was acceptable. I am not sure what that says for their character.
I don’t much care for the police. They answer to the corrupt government and not the people. So maybe my own faults are clouding my judgement. I don’t think so.
