It is a fact reported widely in reliable media that they shut down domestic travel from Wuhan while still allowing approximately a week of international travel from Wuhan to all parts of the globe.
It was a deliberate decision and one that our media/leaders seem quite incurious about even today despite the total costs of this fiasco.
If China is going to take the hit, the CCP wants everyone to take the hit. That is how they think.
It was all about getting Trump. I knew it right from the beginning it would wind up sinking Trump, who at the time, was cruising to re-election, and any Democrat would have told you that at the time, he was cruising.

The rest of the world already took the major hit. Only China had the means to literally lock people indoors for years by shutting down and sealing of people and entire cities. The rest of us were asked to shelter in place, but we’ve been open for the last year. Most of the severe damage to the rest of the world has been done. It remains to be seen if China’s experiment with literally locking people away will have worked or if they will experience a massive surge in cases and deaths among the sick. Not that we would ever know for certain. Maybe they already have some levels of herd immunity or maybe they succeeded to a large degree to prevent the spread - and now have to take the hit.
