In the 70s there were lots of Sci-Fi books that postulated about gender changes being normal and fun in whatever future the authors had imagined.
Never thought it would ever be anything besides fiction
it still is fiction. we are dealing with Mentel illness and a society that allows those with mental problem to tell us what to do.
