A roll of HP5+ (35mm) in the can weighed 28.7 grams. Coincidentally, a roll of PanF (120) in the box also weighed 28.7 grams. 20 rolls of 36exp = 1 lb. or 576gr.
and iirc each film box was about 1 square inch so like a bit over 10 square feet for all that film.

Jim needs to do something about the nutters.
If we did, there would be Walmarts in every crater by now. NASA was/is a CIA money getting operation.
Ease up, FR ain’t Twitter. Don’t make JimRob ban me for disinformation.
I’m not a “nutter”, I’ve been here for many years and I have lived by Johnson Space Center for many years.
I seem to recall a piece some years ago written about what it would take to “fake” the Moon landings. IIRC would have taken many millions and millions of dollars more and technology that that didn’t exist at the time in order to “fake” it over what was spent and the rudimentary by today, yet amazing technology and mathematics put into use at the time, not to mention all the people who worked at NASA who would have had to lie and continue to lie all these years.
Yes.
We went to the moon.
Strange how we no longer have the technology to go back to the moon
We have had the technology to get stuff to the moon for a very long time.
Just getting back and living to tell the tale part is hard.
Meet the “nutters”:

I am sure they will appreciate your assessment of their work.
;-)
35,000 frames makes for about 32 rolls of film for each of the nine missions that reached the moon (although the six that landed probably shot quite a bit over that average).
The cameras (Hasselblad 500 EL/Ms) were one-offs with special-made controls that could be operated while wearing EVA gloves.
This is a Rocket thread, how could you forget rockets ?
The SLS program has cost NASA more than $23 billion (accounting for inflation) in its first 10 years. This number is public, but the hearing is the first time the true launch cost has been revealed, and that $4.1 billion might not come down much.
A well respected Rocket Scientist personally told me the SLS was the stupidest thing he ever saw.
“35,000 frames makes for about 32 rolls of film for each of the nine missions that reached the moon (although the six that landed probably shot quite a bit over that average).”
I am not always good at maths, but at 24 frames per roll:
35,000 / 24 = 1458 rolls
1458 / 9 = 162 rolls per mission
how did you get 32 ?
btw do not forget the big lead shielded compartment for all that film, I have never seen this on any lander diagram.
And just what did they edit out this time around?
Scotty was a member of a church I attended in the 80’s. You must know Scotty.
We went to the moon.
I concur - without a doubt.
Do you think Walt Disney is on ice at Disney World in Florida? I’ve seen liquid nitrogen trucks going in there.
