Meanwhile, her estranged husband Kanye West is also a fan of the item, opting to wear one while running errands and even when heading out for dinner

While Prada's co-creative director Raf Simons has incorporated them in his collections since the early 2000s, other designer brands have since jumped on the bandwagon.

Balaclavas have played a starring role in collections from the likes of Stella McCartney and Stone Island, with prices starting from £150.

Meanwhile, Givenchy which is selling a £340 mesh-mohair balaclava featuring built-in horns and Cecilie Bahnsen's £305 version, which has a frilly neck

Most of fashion is an attempt to get people to buy an all new wardrobe and throw out perfectly good clothes every few months.

This makes sense for celebrities, but overall I suspect this is an outgrowth of the COVID scamdemic mask mandates. A certain percentage of people might have found they like being anonymous in person so they can dress, talk, and act in ways they wouldn’t if people could see their face. It would explain at least in part why you still see people wearing masks.
