Funny. A former co-worker was a lifeguard and Steely Dan was on the pool’s malfunctioning sound system, it looped all day. He has a similar experience as you.

“One of the worst bands ever. Just horrible.”

They wern’t really “a Band”, as noted in the article but . . .

Also, the Bard Vibe is a little weird to get a handle on for lots of folks.

Millions of music fans disagree with your assessment.

One of my all time favs.

I saw them on the Two Against Nature tour. A group of tailgaters had a sign up that said “Right-wing hooey-free zone” (a reference to a song on that album). As we walked through, my friend loudly said, “Not right now, it’s not!” I don’t think they got it.

Especially if they're from Barrytown?

One of Lennon's early hits was I want money.

Then he got rich and wanted everyone to know he wasn't greedy.

About the time he was writing his Sometime in N.Y. album with songs that had noble lyrics like; "woman is the ni&&er of the world", he publicly and repeatedly called his former bandmate "a fauking cuπt".

As Paul famously said; "John was no saint".

Yep, lots of standing up dancing and laughing and enjoying music. Similar to the Doobies etc. Fun concerts to attend in a venue that allows some freedom of movement.

There's certainly a link because Skunk and Michael McDonald were with both SD and the Doobies.

John imagined no taxes, which is why he left Britain for the US.

Lest we forget, they are musicians, not Gods.

People put too many on pedestals, musicians, sports figures, actors, pols - they’re just people. Some are nice, some are nasty.

I love the song Lennon wrote to mock the Maha Rishi. It was the song “Sexy Sadie”. George Harrison refused to play on it because instead of Sexy Sadie, he had written “Maha Rishi what have you done?” and he was into Buddhism at that time and didn't want to defame Maha Rishi. Lennon wrote the lyrics after they went on a 2 week trip to India to stay at the Mah Rishi’s compound and meet him. The lyrics recount John's disillusion with the whole scene and the hypocrisy of the Maha Rishi. If you substitute “Maha Rishi” for “Sexy Sadie” you see what Lennon was trying to say. John had to promise to title it "Sexy Sadie" and swap the words out in order to get George to play on it. McCartney didn't play on that recording at all, instead it was Lennon’s plastic Ono bassist Klaus Voorman on that track.

Saw them twice in Toronto... at the CNE Bandshell by the Lake and at Massey Hall (minus Becker).

I’m 72 now and want to go through all my CDs once more before I croak.

Started last night coincidentally with, Everything Must Go.

Followed it up with ‘The Moody Blues Greatest Hits’ (12 tracks)
