From now on, nature is to be represented as sunshine and puppy dogs, butterflies and rainbows, cotton candy, lollipops, happy birds chirping in green meadows, bright fluffy clouds floating dreamily, and bunny rabbits. So feel free to take some LSD and go running naked through the forest, greeting every woodland creature you see with friendly hugs.

The Disney version of Bambi is far removed from Felix Salten's novel (as best I can judge from having seen short clips of the movie). I hate to think how Disney would change The Old Man and the Sea. Probably the old man would just take a photo of the fish and then throw it back into the sea.

It has been a very long time since I read Hemingway's novel, but as I recall after the old man wakes up, he goes outside to take a leak. That is obviously offensive on three levels: 1. he is outdoors, 2. he's standing up, and 3. he doesn't wash his hands afterwards.

So obviously the students need to be warned against reading the novel.
