A simple, constitutional proposal that protects both Americans lives and liberty.
The 27 words of the Second Amendment dont say anything about how many guns someone can own in America. Neither do the other 7,564 words in the Constitution. Yes, this is a facile point to make. A lot of thingsincluding rights, responsibilities, and government powers we take for grantedarent itemized in the Constitution. While saying you cant find something doesnt necessarily mean anything, conservatives use this trick all the time. Consider marriage equality, a precept protected by the Constitutions Equal Protection and Due Process clauses. Thats the case even though the Constitution doesnt include the words, There shall be no discrimination by government in recognition of any marriage on the basis of race or sexual orientation.
This means a couple of things in the gun debate. First, the Constitution and its text are a starting point, not an end point, for determining what gun regulations federal, state, and local governments may pass. Second, though the Constitutions open-ended provisions are rooted in the time of their drafting, the task of understanding them and applying them has been left to later generations. Federal courts have taken tentative, though momentous, steps in recent years to decide what the Second and 14th amendments mean in terms of gun laws. But in the wake of the slaughter in Las Vegas, some commentators appear to have lost their minds about just how far the courts have gone. No, we dont have to repeal the Second Amendment to pass strong gun lawsSection III of the Supreme Courts landmark 2008 Heller decision is all you have to read to figure that out....

During Colonial times, guns were stashed all over the house, since trouble could come from any direction. The oldest firearm in the NRA Museum collection is a Wheelock carbine found hidden between the walls of a house that was blown down by a storm in the 1920s. A receipt for the gun was also found made out to John Alden and dated 1631,
Sorry, sold my boat and bought more guns. Come get ‘em if you want to try. ;o)
Too weak.
The truth is that changing the meaning of words is an explicitly stated tactic of the Left/Marxists from the beginning that is key to their succeeding.
It is a subtle and unnoticed way to LIE, which is also a fundamental tactic for them.
I tried collecting stamps...
It left a bad taste in My mouth.

What’s
That
Gun?
I will never live long enough or make enough money to do it, but it is something I would want to do.
I stopped by a friends' business. He usually has a couple rifles displayed he's looking to sell or trade. This time there were a couple High Standard rim fire pistols. I questioned him about the prudence of selling them. He told me he had been buying every example he ran across at estate auctions, gun shows, wherever. Lately he decided to inventory his safes and found he had over 100, with over 80 distinct examples. He was just divesting of some where he had multiples.
I had never seen one chambered for .22 short or a .32 auto model. I've seen plans for a .32 conversion but his example looked like a factory job. (Way back, people who shot the 3 gun bullseye competition coveted a medium bore with the same characteristics as their rimfire.) Word got out and he was inundated with contacts from actual collectors. So, having not shot some for over 40 years and amazed by the offers, he decided to part with them. That, or maybe he had an accident while bass fishing.
“Shall not be infringed” is an end point, not a starting point.
6. A small derringer to keep on your possession at all times.
If this is an "average", you could be considered a super owner with just one gun.
I’d like some C4 to play with.
“Were seriously deficient then. My first wife made me sell my Winchester automatic shotgun and Marlin Model 60”
In my house the wife would have been sold instead.
But just think, you too could be a “super owner”. A lot easier than being “uber rich”. I think it will be my excuse to buy another gun. Wonder if my wife will access the explanation?

When I met my wife 39 years ago one of the first things I told her was I was a hunter/fisherman and that I liked and collected guns. I said that I would, under no circumstances, stop those practices and if a woman didn't like it they didn't have to date me. She actually asked me to take her out shooting and she is a great shot.

Good on ya! I’ve had guys tell me their wives had no objection to guns but wouldn’t allow ammunition in house.Nay, nay.
56 years married here. Wife had no problems from day one. We shot rats together at garbage dump during courthood. Loves her Ladysmith laser sighted 38 revolver.
Ive never taken the time to figure out the makes and models but toward the end we see that he carries at least 4, his two main full size revolvers, a slightly smaller backup revolver, and a baby concealment type revolver. As many do today, Im sure he had a knife on himself somewhere which got me to thinking about his watch chain. If he managed to live much longer he probably eventually bought his watch. He would have needed a fob for it and as was the case with many then would have gotten a derringer. I dont think he would have voluntarily stopped carrying in his later years after what he ha been through so Im guessing that in his theoretical later days he would have 3 firearms on him for days at home and 5 on days he was expecting some kind of trouble.
I say the Pennington should become a cop or ATF agent and be the first one thru the door as he tries to implement his plan.
Its not just the VA. Some private orgs have gotten involved in data collection but wont say why, though I think we know. For example in my area Bellin Medical asks a bunch of NOYDB questions. Any answer you give other than y/n gets put down as a yes.
