I might tolerate a coup of Congress, and of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

The scenario I could see would be that the deep state attempts a coup against Trump and install Obama or even Hilary as POTUS. The US military would in that case remain loyal to their oath to defend the Constitution and likely stage a counter coup to restore Constitutional government.
Libprog porn. If the US Armed Forces did not intervene to oust Obama, who was loathed with a visceral passion, they are not going to move against Trump, who has a huge amount of support.
Any general or admiral that tried to talk them into doing otherwise would find himself looking at the wrong end of rifles and pissed off soldiers.

What the writer fails to understand is that any coup was much more likely under Trump's predecessor.

Agreed, the military is fully behind Trump.
I’d bet that 3/4 of the 0-9 & O-10s would be willing, and half of the 0-7s and O-8s would. WAY too many of them are Political Animals who have already shown a willingness to sell out the Constitution and the Nation for that next star, and perhaps a Board of Directors gig with a major military contractor after retirement.
A third of the 0-3 through O-6s probably would, if they thought it would succeed and they got a promotion out of it, and half the O-1 and O-2s would because they have more time in some lefty college than they do in uniform /the real world.
Of the NCOs, I’d bet that 15% of the E-7s through E-9s would, and 20% of the E5s and E-6s would. And about 1/3 of the E-1 through E-4s would.
Maybe a decent percentage of the above would come to their senses if they had to fire on or order firing upon any significant number of Civilian Trumpster Loyalists. I hope so. And I hope we never have to find out.
