"We've all been told, 'Black people died fighting for the right to vote.' That's a myth. The truth is, Black people died fighting for their freedom," explained Viola Plummer at a recent "Let's Talk: electoral forum in Brooklyn. "We have been fighting for our freedom one way or another since we were enslaved by these criminals. Voting was a step toward freedom.
"As the propaganda machines of this country starts to twirl as they do, you know what Malcolm X said, 'They make you think your enemies are your friends and your friends are your enemies.'
"We in the December 12th Movement are proffering, no vote on the lesser of two evils. Neither Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump nor Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio or whoever they may raise up will make a real difference in the lives of Black people."
Plummer reminded the folks about the Black Panther Party 10-point program and read point No. 10 aloud:
"We want land, bread, housing, education, clothing, justice and peace. And as our major political objective, a United Nations-supervised plebiscite to be held throughout the Black colony in which only Black colonial subjects will be allowed to participate, for the purpose of determining the will of Black people as to their national destiny.
"We are proffering a plebiscite. A plebiscite is something we as Black people need to understand and get into," Plummer concluded.
People began to contemplate and discuss the idea. They looked at the Democrat and Republican no-win situation; and the conditions of Black people in New York City as well as nationally. Historic and contemporary conditions of land from the "40 acres and mule lies to current housing foreclosures bank swindles," as one man in his 50s stated.
Education for Blacks began as a criminal act. Brown vs. the Board of Education was a demand for the equal part of the Jim Crow "separate but equal" laws not terroristic integration. "They sent Black children to a lions' den of racists," a young woman chimed in.
"We don't even need to discuss justice," her friend added.
"On Election Day, instead of voting for president, write in 'Reparations Now!'" Plummer instructed. "Not only are we making a political statement, we will be educating our people. Self-determination, reparations and the plebiscite are issues that should be discussed in every Black household. We must begin the process now."
The next "Let's Talk" electoral forum will be held in Commemoration of the United Nations International Day Against Racism, Monday, March 21 at 6:30 at the Harlem State Office Building, located on the corner of 125th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd.
In the wake of the intensified racist attacks on political dissent at Republican front-runner Trump's campaign rally in Chicago, Chairman Fred Hampton Jr., who hails from Chicago, will be the keynote speaker. Hampton, chair of the Prisoners of Consciousness Committee and Black Panther Party Cubs, is the son of the Illinois chairman of the Black Panther Party, Fred Hampton Sr., who was murdered by Chicago police as he slept in his bed Dec. 4, 1969.
I thinbk Donald Trump would help black people immeasurably. Closing off the border, stopping the drugs, and deporting the illegals will be a huge benefit to the black community.
Not this one. The crazy is strong in Viola Plummer.
Where is the black colony located?
The social policies of the Democratic party have utterly failed the black community especially in urban areas. There’s just no getting around that reality.
Way back when, I studied Latin, and the teacher was a Black priest. On Fridays, he would get off topic, and discuss the events of the day. One time he said that it was proposed that Blacks, having the largest population share of Mississippi, as of any state, should take it over, call it their country, and declare war, on the U.S. The rational was that WWII demonstrated that America treats defeated enemies better than it treated Black people. So maybe Mississippi is the colony ?
“On Election Day, instead of voting for president, write in ‘Reparations Now!’”
I absolutely endorse this strategy for every black voter !
Must have been written before the rally because the rally was cancelled. Only racist attacks were by the negroes on White Trump supporters trying to leave.
" black households" Yeah "Let's Talk" about that, the crux of the problem...
Hey Plummer....a Photo ID will be required....and that's just rassist
Liberia?
I think Ted Cruz would be the best to soothe racial tension. It’s really difficult for an old white dude.
Explaining how the Constitution and the conservative movement has no place for skin color and calling out those who use it for an excuse.
Yes, I know he has a diverse group at his rallies... It’s different when working with folks who refuse to hear.
I remember when The New York Amsterdam News spit and snarled at the Central Park jogger who was raped and beaten close to death by a roving gang of black “youths.”
They published her address, phone number
and wrote as if the kids who raped her were the victims.
These are demands by communists. Same old crapola different decade
I believe that more whites died than blacks did so blacks can be free, but I could be wrong.
“We want land, bread, housing, education, clothing, justice and peace...”
and, for decades, you have received all of these things, all save one. The opportunity to buy land, equal opportunity employment to afford food and housing, preferential education programs for the disadvantaged, a justice system of your peers. Peace is something you’ll have to work out amongst yourselves, but it involves looking inward.
so....where’s the beef?
Wherever there is a Black person - i.e., the entire territory of the U.S. would be subject to negotiation.
Welcome to the Balkanization of the United States!
Regards,
I’ve resisted the term “African-American”, in favor of Black, because of the Balkanization aspect. There is only one person I feel comfortable referring to as African American, she is so light skinned, that she jokes that she likes standing next to me, it’s the only time she looks Black.
We should comply, give them everything that she has requested- in Liberia.
I her Senegal is nice.
