The advice you are getting is repetitious, and it’s all correct.

Magpul is great, and you want A LOT of magazines now (10 is completely reasonable, and 40 is not unreasonable if you shoot a lot), while you can still get them. I’m in a socialist state, where the Second Amendment is systematically violated, and one of my tasks the next time I travel out of state is to get more 30 round magazines. It’s legal to possess them in my state, just not to purchase them.

Magpul’s work great. We used them in our Bushmaster and now in our Wyndham.

I guess that I’m pretty old-school,but when I bring my M1A up to my shoulder-it feels like a real weapon,not a toy.

Nothing old about it, buddy...

I have always enjoyed the walnut stock/steel combination better than plastic. The very first rifle I ever learned to shoot was my Gunnery Sergeant uncle’s M1 Garand. I was 11. Loved it so much that a Garand was the very first rifle I bought when I came of age to own. Still have it too.

I own a lot of vintage wood stocked guns, as well as modern stuff.

And I still enjoy lever guns as well; THE quintessential American firearm.

I collect old military rifles. The old weapons will outshoot the modern stuff.Case in point,my Swedish M96 sniper.Receiver crest is dated 1900,it will shoot right along side of my Remington 700 HB.

RE Swedish M96:

Oh Hell yeah, man!! That’s a Mauser, after all!!! Beautiful old launcher for sure!!! I have a couple Mausers. Tack drivers, still.

I also like the Swiss K31 straight pull. A rifleman’s rifle, from a Nation of Riflemen.

Thanks, I ‘stocked up’ in 2008, for some reason :), maybe it is time to go to a gun show to update my supply.

I like to stick with common nato rounds, because there will always be lots of it around. I haven’t heard of that one before, but I’ll check it out.

Magpuls are probably the best thermoplastic magazines.

If you want metal magazines, the Brownell magazines with the Magpul follower are also very good.

I wish I had a few dozen of those old Colt magazines with the metal follower.

I just today went and bought a couple of .223 Magpul mags from Cabelas, $13.00 apiece; just loaded them as a matter of fact...

The only ones that I’d suggest you stay away from are polymer mags.

Magpul’s are great too.

Does Magpul make any that are NOT polymer?
