this libertarian (small l libertarian) is against abortion, against open borders, but is also against the war on drugs, not because of the drugs themselves, but because of the police actions and slow erosion of personal rights that has come with it..

To be libertarian as opposed to Republican is to be a critical thinker as far as I'm concerned.
I have yet to see evidence that the Republican party is the party of small govt. There's far more evidence that they're just as totalitarian as democrats, just in somewhat different ways.
