I wawn’t alive during the 1950’s, but I do remember the 1970’s and still, having been to countries living under totalitarian socialist rule, any changes in that direction that have occurred since the 1970’s are tiny compared to the difference between what we have now and that. I’ve been places where there’s literally nothing to buy, even if you are a tourist coming in with money, the stores are just empty. Where people are scared to even speak the name of their Dear Leader even in private, much less criticize him. But as I said, we are definitely headed in that direction with no obvious way to stop it, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see us end up there. But let’s be real; we’re not there yet.

Yes, i agree that we are not to the point that many other nations are experiencing, yet considering where we started from that these other nations did not is where i was coming from.

At any rate i believe it is the people in any country who choose not to be free and in this country it is more obvious.

I was born in 1936 so i saw a lot of changes which was what lead me to the polls to vote to help stop the socialism that i could see coming, we called it communism then.

During the 1950s we took it as our duty to our country to turn in some one we knew was a communist, boy how things have changed, now the communists are turning us in.
