As wealth diminished among real working people there would be more "incidents" against a power-mad Federal Gov't. Riots in cities would ensue as impeachments were brought against those in power and as the deficit increased dramatically. Police strength could break down.

With great bluster and cluelessness you have, unsurprisingly, missed the point. The lesson is about what a man is willing to do in order to survive. What personal compromises would one make to continue to live. It has nothing to do with turning this country into Nazi Germany.
There is a man in the Whitehouse determined to destroy our economy, and every vote for a viable alternative candidate is a vote to remove him from office. When compared to what a man has to do to survive the Holocaust, voting for Romney sure seems a mighty trivial exercise to me.
The fact that the National SOCIALISTS came to power on the support of people willing to throw reason to the wind in order to get out of their then current circumstance seems lost on many on FR as of late.
But then again, these are people who think that your vote for a person does not mean that you support them/their policies.
In short, people are once again throwing reason to the wind and ‘hoping’ for ‘change’. Four years ago, such people were called idiots by the very people who now embrace their ideals. How freaking mindless is that? Abandoning your very reason out of fear never results in a positive outcome.
