Calling it a form of marriage is for the benefit of the male. The prostitute is tolerated even in Iran. Rape is rape but it appears that the victim can be blamed for dishonoring the family.

It surprised me -- and I felt good about it -- that the family of the girl saved her. I would have expected them wanting to kill her for disobeying her husband.

So not every Muslim there is an Islamist (political Islam, sharia law advocate).
