“Revelation 7:1 “And after these things I saw four angels standing on FOUR CORNERS OF THE EARTH, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.” (KJV)”
This is poetry. Scripture is full of poetry. It’s not a literal description of the formation of the earth.
The literal description of the formation of the earth is in Genesis 1. God does not say it’s flat.
Isaiah 40:22:
“He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
Scripture also, for instance, talks about “sunrise.” As do you and I. Although we all know it’s the earth’s rotation.
When you say “We watched the sunrise” are you saying that the sun circles the earth? I think not.
Nothing in Scripture denies a spherical earth.
I’m certain you understand the difference between a circle and a sphere, and I have little doubt whoever wrote Revelation did too. But I think I understand, when the bible doesn’t make sense it’s poetry, and when it confirms your notions it should be taken literally.
How does one deal with a clear declaration that is unambiguous and false? For example, Psalm 104:5, “He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.”
Marie, I would love to post something that might add weight to your argument, but when you’ve finished speaking there’s nothing left to say!
So all I can say is, “Let ‘em have it”!
