My theory is . . .
when the brain areas involving higher function screening of emotional expression are compromised or dead . . .
THEN WHATEVER IS IN THE HEART—THE CORE VALUES AND EMOTIONS—EVEN SIGNIFICANT PARTS OF THEM
COME FLOODING OUT.
I recall the story of a couple of men at a nursing home . . .
Both supposedly devout Christians. I think one had been a pastor or missionary.
One when he had a stroke, would rant cursing up a blue streak.
However, the other, also a similar stroke, would also rant in tone etc. but his words were different:
Instead of “OH DAMN!”
It was “OH! AMAZING GRACE!” as an epithet.
LOL.
Certainly out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth exposes!
I tend to agree. I know of relative on my wife’s side who had a major heart attack. He never ever used a cuss word but after the heart attack, he would break into tirades that would make your hair stand up. He’s dead now from another heart attack.
It’s kind of like when you hear someone use a racial slur; they say they don’t mean it but it has to be there in order to just come out.
