Thanks.

Rev 5:8 ¶ And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four [and] twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

NOTHING in this passage implies or states that the prayers of the still earth-bound saints had anything to do with saints already in Heaven--AT ALL.

Rev 6:9 ¶ And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

Uhhhhhhh . . . did you make a mistake. NOTHING in that verse says ANYTHING about praying or prayers. There is mention of the martyrs. Still NOTHING to do with Heaven bound saints listening to prayers of earth bound saints.

Rev 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

Again, nothing about praying. Merely talking about the Heaven located martyrs who'd died on earth wondering when God would judge and avenge their blood. NOTHING about even them praying for any earth bound living saints--at all. They merely are asking God a question about being avenged.

Do you have any idea of what you are talking about when you use the word "Saint?"

Saint: (n.) A person sanctified; a holy or godly person; one eminent for piety and virtue; any true Christian, as being redeemed and consecrated to God.

Do you truly have no idea about the meaning of the word?

It indicates a sanctified person. A Christian, baptized, redeemed.  That would presumably IMHO include any Christian.

Do you pray to your fellow church goers? Do you really have any clue at all about what you post about?

Do you know what the word "church" means?

Ecclesia was a word meaning "gathering of the called out ones"

Ecclesia......church... " called out."

This is old stuff to me, but apparantly new stuff to you.

It often appears that the human condition and many individuals in particular

are RIDICULOUS.

Why shouldn't a thread be so?

And, besides, I think the original request was an interesting one. Of course, given the facts of the raucous, strife-ridden religious forum on FR . . . one would expect such a thread to be almost anything BUT what was asked for.

**It's not the fact that the phrase Mother of God has ever been used that bothers us. **

How about the phrase "Son of God"?

From today's Gospel of John:

Gospel
Jn 1:29-34

John the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward him and said,
“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.
He is the one of whom I said,
‘A man is coming after me who ranks ahead of me
because he existed before me.’
I did not know him,
but the reason why I came baptizing with water
was that he might be made known to Israel.”
John testified further, saying,
“I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky
and remain upon him.
I did not know him,
but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,
‘On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain,
he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of God.”

Therefore, the Mother of Jesus Christ, is the Mother of God!

Given those are your first verses of proof . . . one might logically assume that you picked your best first.

If so, methinks your position is shredded, groundless, hanging on an invisible, nonexistent skyhook.

Please read my other posts on this issue. Your post would not lead me to change any of my comments.

Basically, the points you made are moot. Irrelevant.

So God has a mother.

I have no need to prove that.

I'm exceedingly confident that it's a non-issue except as saints become surrogate foci for folks trust, adoration, attention etc. vs Jesus.

It doesn't matter to me that much whether Heavenly saints pray/intercede for us, or not.

What matters is robbing Jesus of anything--ANYthing due HIM.

Your choice. But given that smoke doesn't transit the net . . . I don't see why not.

Your point is what sticks in our craw about the issue.

It's not that Mary was not Jesus mother and that Jesus was not God. That's a moot historical fact.

The issue is that the layers of junk that get piled on that phrase; the focusing on that phrase and issue . . . robs from God; distorts the reality; elevates Mary at Christ's expense. That's what's abominable, imho.

What's your beef with it?

I'm antogonistic and rude enough without raising the bar on what I can say; its more of temptation to be completly un-Christian in my responses, and that sort of defeats the point.
