The less money you make, the bigger percentage of your income you spend on sales taxable items. Boortz wants to jack the sales tax up through the roof thus driving up the cost of living for poor and middle class people. Rich people who don't worry about making ends meet say that's just fine with them.

On the contrary. The less money a person makes, the less they will spend. The less they spend under the Fair Tax, the less they will be taxed. Not to mention the rebate for taxes on necessities up to the poverty level. I suggest you do more research at www.fairtax.org before you reach anymore conclusions.

Beep. The circle takes the square. Read the book. Prices will drop, and everyone gets a prebate of all taxes spent on necessities.

Another one who doesn't understand the first thing about fair tax but feels competant to pontificate.

Go to Fairtax.org and READ THE FAQ.

Huh?

Have you read Boortz's book or the Fair Tax Bill? (HR.25)

It's too bad that we have to listen to you. You have not read the fair tax book, nor have you ever given one minute of time to visit the fair tax website. You know not a whit of what you speak. The Fair Tax is THE ONLY plan out there that completely untaxes the poor. The big secret: it untaxes them but disallows their vote. Yeah. The 50% of the citizenry that now can vote itself largesse from the treasury will no longer be able to do that. The income tax will not exist and will not be a vote buying and lobbying scheme anymore. Is that bad?

That is an objection easily addressed with a prebate and a basket of essential goods and services necessary to sustain life being off limits to taxation. So yes, people will pay more for luxury goods but on the other hand, money put away and saved is NOT taxed.

Suckmaster, how about reading the book or going to fairtax.org and LEARN THE DETAILS of the proposal before so GROSSLY MISREPRESENTING what it will do and what it will NOT do. And harming the poor is one of the things it WILL NOT do!

I see no justifiable reason that low-income people shouldn't be paying their fair share as well as rich. It isn't Bill Gates' kids in the local schools, but yet everybody expects him to pay for them. We've got about 50% of the population that pay no federal income tax at all - and some deadbeats that get the so-called "earned income credit" which is a fancy name for welfare.

I'm not sure that the fair tax is the best answer, but anything that uses the earnings from one group to buy votes from another (like today's variable tax rate scheme does) should be eliminated.

'bout d@mn time the "poor" started paying their fair share. This class warfare "soak the rich" cr@p is beginning to PO me. Right now we have 50% of the population paying nearly all the taxes, but the untaxed folks have the same vote as they taxpayers. Guess what they vote for...

But, in case ya didn't notice, there is a "prebate" that rebates the sales tax up to the individual poverty line. Forget how much it is per person, per month, but its in th plan.
