Hebrews 4
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Here's an update on my father-in-law, who underwent quadruple bypass surgery a couple of weeks ago:

He was sent home from the hospital after 4 days. A couple of days later, he fainted several times, so back into the hosptial he went. He had a CAT scan, and is scheduled for an MRI. It may not be anything to do with the operation; it might just be one of the medications he was on.

Anyway, he's back at home. We went up to visit over the weekend. He looks good, and was getting into trouble, trying to do more than he should! The only unfortunate part is that, during his second visit to the hospital, he came down with a cold, which has left his lungs congested, and he has to cough a lot.

Thanks again to all who prayed for him. I'm sure it's made a difference!

Psalm 77

  1. [[To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph.]] I cried unto God with my voice, [even] unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.
  2. In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.
  3. I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.
  4. Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
  5. I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.
  6. I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.
  7. Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?
  8. Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth [his] promise fail for evermore?
  9. Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.
  10. And I said, This [is] my infirmity: [but I will remember] the years of the right hand of the most High.
  11. I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.
  12. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
  13. Thy way, O God, [is] in the sanctuary: who [is so] great a God as [our] God?
  14. Thou [art] the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.
  15. Thou hast with [thine] arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
  16. The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.
  17. The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.
  18. The voice of thy thunder [was] in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.
  19. Thy way [is] in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.
  20. Thou leadest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Father, we trust You for the answers to our many problems and concerns, yet so often our strength fails while waiting for Your answers and help. We love You, Father, but the answers seem to take so very long to reach us, and...like David...we question. Dear Father, remember that our days are short, and that we do not see the whole picture as You do from Your throne of grace. Our vision is limited mostly to the physical realm, except the rare instances of insight that You sometimes send us...but even then, the physical demands proof for acceptance as fact. If these doubts are flaws, then forgive us and send us strength and insight to overcome the iniquities. But if our questions are intrinsic to who and what You created us to be, then grace us with Your patience and send us hope so we may endure until Your good purposes are fulfilled. In either case, let us do what David suggests, and remember Your mighty hand throughout history in the salvation of Your people. Protect each of us and all those we love and cherish from circumstances and entities that could cause our destruction. Reveal Yourself to each soul which seeks to know of Your existance, and let the impact of this revelation be of such a magnitude than none can deny that You exist and care deeply for each of us. Thank You, Dear Father! In Jesus' name I ask these things that You may be known and accepted by every living person...Amen!
