Unlike far too many Americans, he understands the value of hard work and why more of us (especially young people getting ready to go to college or already in college) need to do more of it. Especially right now as we're watching schools like Columbia, Yale, Barnard, and others eating themselves with the pro-Palestine/Hamas riots.
Protests.
Whatever.

Consider the latest madness at Columbia University, where the president, Minochuhe Shafik, has announced a new round of remote learning - effective immediately - in response to a noisy rabble of thugs and bullies calling for the eradication of Israel.If I had a kid at Columbia, I’d be livid. It’s simply mind-boggling that the president of this university would rather consign her students to another crucible of remote learning, than permanently expel the protesters. I mean, seriously, what does it take to get expelled from Columbia? These creeps are on camera, literally screaming into the faces of Jewish students.
“They yelled at us to go back to Poland, said we have no culture, and chanted, ‘Strike, strike Tel Aviv,” said one terrified student. Followed by, “Burn Tel Aviv to the ground,” “Go Hamas, we love you, we support your rockets, too.”
In a now-infamous image, one demonstrator appeared before a group of counter-protesters holding Israeli and American flags with a sign pointing in their direction that read, “Al-Qasam’s next targets.”That’s what you get for $68,000 a year at Columbia – an administration who cowers in the face of thugs and bullies, and a university president who would rather make your kids try to learn off campus, than take a truly hard line with those students calling for the murder of Jews. I got in a argument with a lady with a Masters degree in racial studies from UCLA. She said you couldn’t be racist against white people. All the proof I needed to see to know that current college degrees are worthless.
Indeed, I see the present Ivy League admins vs. Woke Hamas red guards as Stalin vs. Trotsky. The left eating itself.
Is there a way to ensure they both lose?
In the group-think-bubbles of modern American academia, they literally never see another point of view. They are like trained seals - they get rewards when they repeat the sounds and actions taught to them.

Since the president of Columbia is an Egyptian muslim, the reluctance to throw students who threaten to murder Jews off her campus could be due to her own vicious bald faced racism. Of course, her main loyalty is to the muslim Umma, the community of believers, rather than to any other grouping or State.
If the pro-Hamas types want to undermine the education of Jewish students in America, it is imperative to halt this abuse. Certainly a lot more effort from political and educational leaders is necessary to enable a return to decency.
However my point is that this is no longer the 1930’s where the only academic games in town are in North America and Europe. There are high quality international level Universities outside the West where students can do their studies or work on their doctorates. There are the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in India, the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil, some in China and elsewhere that are top tier.
The longer term point is that Jewish scholarship in the West has lead to 129 Nobel Prizes, plus technological leadership in many fields. Ill treatment in Western countries does not have to be tolerated. Sending excellent Jewish scholars (and non Jewish scholars) to the developing world can accelerate the shift in technological power to nations and peoples who might be more appreciative. And maybe the handful can turn into something larger where these countries will be safer places for communities that should avoid a West that is about to self destruct. As Jews are the canary in the coal mines, maybe other communities should also think about where to put down roots.
