All of my teen aged friends in the ‘60s had those cars. Myself, I had a sequential string of used Triumphs, a TR2, a TR3, two Spitfires, and eventually a TR4. Sometimes we worked for them, sometimes our parents bought them for us. I don’t recall paying more than $700 for any of those Triumphs.

That was not the world most of us knew, but I still doubt that 9 year olds and teenagers were the primary market for expensive cars.

It wasn’t my purpose to burden anyone reading my post.

I simply meant to point out that there are some CIA people who feel badly—deep down and possibly without fully realizing it—about the massive damage inflicted on society by their own actions as enabled by their employer.

Got a nice stash of ribbon and correction ribbon I bought in late 90’s early 2000’s.

I am surprised to see that apparently new manufacture (by third parties) supplies are available on Amazon and Walmart.

"The street price for a stolen Selectric in DC was about $200 in the early 70s. They were relatively easy to acquire."

I remember in the late 70's, maybe early eighties wandering around the TI warehouse when I came across a big wire cage of nothing but IBM Selectric typewritters just tossed in there in a big pile, all helter skelter.

Not long after, I remember arriving to work with 2-3 technicians in my office. When I asked what they were doing, they said "installing your computer, everyone at you level and above must have a computer on their desk". Few of us knew anything about computers.
